Ricinus communis 'carmencita red'

One of our favorites, this beautiful castor bean cultivar produces large attractive purplish leaves on red stems with clusters of red flowers. Its bold foliage and brightly colored seed pods provide an awesome color contrast when mixed with other plants in the garden. Considered a dwarf variety, Carmencita Red will grow up to 4 feet tall in a sunny location. They also have a much better branching habit than the large castor bean plant types. Grown as an annual in most zones, this is a tropical plant that will grow year round in frost-free regions. Looks great as a specimen plant in your garden or even grow one in a large container. Easy and fun to grow from seed.
