Detailed Description...

Pride of Barbados 'Pink' - Peacock Flower
Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Much less common than the red variety, the Pink Pride of Barbados or Peacock Flower is an absolutely gorgeous member of the Fabaceae or pea family. It is a little smaller than the red species and also begins to flower much sooner. The showy terminal flower clusters are bright pink with a tinge of white on the edges. Plants will grow to approximately 6' high but can easily be pruned to desired shape and size. Hardy outside in frost free zones, this plant is well suited to inside culture in colder areas. It is a superb plant to display in a container on your patio or deck or grow inside as a houseplant. Despite its exotic nature, this plant is surprisingly easy to grow from seed.
