Fragrant Lilac Collection - 4 Varieties (SAVE 40%)

Lilacs are among the most popular cultivated shrubs in the temperate world. Aside from roses, there is no flower as beautiful and aromatic. There is nothing better than the sweet scent of a freshly picked bouquet of lilacs in early spring. Lilacs are seldom bothered by pests, easy to grow and are renowned for their showy fragrant flowers produced profusely in spring to early summer. There are many varieties of Lilacs and they blossom in a variety of sizes and colors - pink, purple, white, and shades in between - and all carry that sweet scent we all love. All make great specimen plants. Even when the flowers drop, the foliage continues to make the lilac an attractive shrub/tree for the remainder of the growing season. This collection is for one packet each of four (4) Lilac varieties:
  • French Lilac
  • Late Lilac
  • Pekin Lilac
  • Japanese Tree Lilac

French Lilac
Syringa vulgaris

The French Lilac grows 10 to 15 feet in height with a spread of 6 to 12 feet. The lilac colored flowers are extremely fragrant and appear in early to mid-May on panicles 4 to 8 inches long. Hardy to zone 3.
Late Lilac
Syringa villosa

The Late Lilac grows 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 10 feet wide providing a dense plant for the shrub border. The purplish-white flowers appear in mid to late May sometimes continuing into June. The flower panicles are 3 to 7 inches long. Hardy to zone 3
Japanese Tree Lilac
Syringa reticulata

The Japanese tree lilac grows 20 to 30 feet tall with a spread of 15 to 25 feet forming an oval to rounded-shaped small tree. The large, fragrant white flower panicles appear in early to mid-June. Its flowers are borne in large terminal panicles up to a foot long and up to 10" wide. This is a very showy specimen tree. Hardy to zone 3.
Pekin Lilac
Syringa pekinensis

Pekin Lilac is a related species to Japanese Tree Lilac that is also a nice tree form and blooms in summer with white flowers. It is a smaller tree, growing just 15 to 20 feet tall and is often multi-stemmed and finer in texture than the Japanese tree lilac. The flowers are creamy white on 3 to 6 inch long panicles in late May to June. Hardy to zone 3.
