Hollyhock Collection - 3 Heirloom Varieties (SAVE 34%)

No true cottage garden is complete without the prized hollyhock. Originally from China, these showy and hardy garden plants have become popular in traditional gardens all over the world. We see them everywhere in the landscape, towering clusters of flowers standing alongside barns and homes in the country and city. They are easy to grow and self sustaining, bringing much needed color late in the season. Because of their height they are often planted in the background against walls or frequently next to entrance ways or doors. Easy to grow from seed and will succeed in virtually any soil in full sun. If you like hollyhocks, then you will love this collection of three (3) heirloom varieties.

Pioneer Mixed
Alcea ficitifolia

These old-fashioned single-flowered blooms sport some of the darkest, richest colors known to the Hollyhock family, as well as cheery pastels and light colors. All are studded with a prominent yellow center, and all arise profusely on sturdy 5 to 7 foot stems in summer, attracting bees and hummingbirds. This heirloom, early blooming hollyhock has an abundance of large single 4-5" flowers that are a real eye-catcher and look most impressive in the garden as tall border plants or for background planting. They bloom from mid summer to frost and the long stems make for excellent cut flowers.
Fordhook Chaters Doubles
Alcea rosea

This beautiful and hardy heirloom hollyhock variety produces large spikes that bear fully double 4 inch flowers from early spring to frost. Plants grow to approximately 6 feet tall with massive amounts of double blooms in colours of rose, scarlet, pink, yellow, violet, and purple. These double flowers have much more body than most common hollyhock varieties. Fully hardy from Zones 3-9.
Black Hollyhock
Alcea rosea nigra

This early blooming perennial is an old-fashioned single black hollyhock that looks most impressive in the garden. With an abundance of stunning huge 3-4" inch dark maroon blooms atop 6-8 foot stems, this heirloom hollyhock is a real eye-catcher. Blooms throughout the summer into early fall. This reliable perennial is very vigorous and hardy in zones 2-9 and will flourish in full sun.
