Canna x generalis

'Marabout' will definitely add a tropical feel to your garden. The very large pure green and banana like leaves and tall stocks of gorgeous orange-red flowers make this Canna variety an eye pleasing spectacle through summer and fall. This is not a dwarf by any measure as these vigorous and prolific plants will grow 10-15' high. Flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. Excellent foliage and specimen plant or grow as an effective summer screen for privacy or as a tropical backdrop. The rhizomes for this variety are expensive and hard to find but you can easily grow from seed at a fraction of the cost. In zones 7 and above, grow as a perennial. In other areas the large rhizomes should be lifted and stored for winter in sand or peat.
