Brazilian Sky Flower

Native to South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, this very showy shrub has stunning blue flowers that attract bees and butterflies and bright golden berries that are relished by birds. The small berries account for its common name “golden dewdrop” and both the flowers and berries are often present on the plant at the same time. 10 Seeds.

Brazilian Sky Flower
Duranta erecta

Native to South America, Mexico and the Caribbean, this very showy shrub has stunning blue flowers that attract bees and butterflies and bright golden berries that are relished by birds. The small berries account for its common name "golden dewdrop" and both the flowers and berries are often present on the plant at the same time. It is a fast growing plant that generally grows to 5-10' high and equally wide. Plants bloom almost all year round in spring, summer and autumn and throughout the year in the tropics. Great as an hedge or border and also as a lovely container plant. It can also be trained as a bonsai or topiary for decorative purposes. Other than occasional pruning this is an easy-to-grow plant and needs little maintenance. Hardy in zones 9-11. In Zone 8 it dies to ground after hard freezes but grows back in spring. Grow as a potted plant in colder climates.
