Scarlet Firethorn

Scarlet Firethorn is a large, evergreen shrub that is prized for its spectacular fall and winter display of fruit, hardiness and ease of care. The shrub is covered in small white flowers in spring, but the best feature of this shrub is its clusters of orange-red berries that literally cover the plant in fall and persist into winter. If not eaten by birds, the berries actually look great as Christmas decorations! 100+ Seeds.

Scarlet Firethorn is a large, evergreen shrub that is prized for its spectacular fall and winter display of fruit, hardiness and ease of care. The shrub is covered in small white flowers in spring, but the best feature of this shrub is its clusters of orange-red berries that literally cover the plant in fall and persist into winter. If not eaten by birds, the berries actually look great as Christmas decorations! Its fast rate of growth, ability to withstand drought and neglect, and its disease and pest resistance make this plant a very popular choice for the landscape. Firethorn typically grow into a tangled mound up to 10-12' in height and width. The wide-reaching stems may be pruned back as needed and can be shaped quite creatively. You may even consider using it as an informal hedge. Hardy from zones 5-9.
