The plant used to make the number one consumed beverage in the world also makes an interesting and fun tropical plant to grow. The Tea Plant is native to South and Southeast Asia but is now cultivated around the world in tropical and subtropical regions for its commercial use. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree that is best trimmed when grown as an ornamental plant. In fall they produce 1-2" white blossoms with golden stamens and a delightful scent. Hardy outside to Zone 8, they also make lovely houseplants and an interesting conversation specimen.
