Yellow Pitcher Plant

Sometimes referred to as Yellow Trumpets, the Yellow Pitcher Plant is a grand, erect and showy pitcher plant. This particular Sarracenia variety is one of the most beautiful with pure green to yellow upper pitchers with a deep crimson patch in the throat. This pitcher is much more robust than any of the other Sarracenia species and grows to 2-3' tall. 25+ Seeds.

Sometimes referred to as Yellow Trumpets, the Yellow Pitcher Plant is a grand, erect and showy pitcher plant. This particular Sarracenia variety is one of the most beautiful with pure green to yellow upper pitchers with a deep crimson patch in the throat. This pitcher is much more robust than any of the other Sarracenia species and grows to 2-3' tall. Large nodding 4" yellow flowers appear in early spring, somewhat resembling an upside down umbrella. This is a carnivorous species that traps insects as a source of additional nutrients. To do this, the plant uses its upright folded leaves or "pitchers" which are half full of water, with sticky juice near the top. The juice attracts insects, which crawl into the "pitcher" and become trapped and are then "consumed" by the plant. A rare variety, these are hardy from zones 5-9 and will make a unique addition to your garden. You can even grow these plants in a cool windowsill or on your patio to trap insects. Unusual and fun to grow, this beautiful specimen is actually not that hard from seed if proper cultural practices are followed.
